About 6 months ago I inhereted two Farmall Tractors after my father passed away.
The first is a 52 or 53 Farmall Super H that has amazing horse power compaired to its earlier model H. This tractor was manufacture the last year that international built the letter series H. I intend to rebuild this tractor up a little with a wide front, loader and 3-point hitch for working with a wider variety of implements. Although it does have "live" hydraulics I still wish it had the live PTO. To add a swing clutch and the rear-end to do all this will require a lot of cost and work.
The second is a '43 Farmall H that my grandfather bought brand new from the dealership after moving to the "new-country" from Belgium after serving in WW1.
This tractor is my baby and will only be restored to 100% orginal. It still runs after sitting idle in the shed for over 10 years now. It does need the engine rebuilt and paint but that goes without saying.
Both of these machines represent a life gone by known then as the family farm. I had spent countless hours between both machines growing up on a dairy farm till age 17 where I moved to the city and left everything behind to seek my fortune. Then was the era of the family farm could not survive with the "new world order" of business. Farms had either gone very large, or not at all, in that period of time and of course we did not follow the trend and got out of farming.
These two antique tractors are a direct reflection of my father, my father's father, and now handed down to me. I will eventually bestowed these upon my son when I pass that thier rich history and heritage may continue to live on.
The cattle, the land and most of everything else has been sold off or gone to waste with age. I personally hold these two specific items known only as an antique tractor close to my heart as reflection of latter days now gone by.
In honor and rememberence.
