I am putting a general motors alternator on a Farmall Super M. It is the type with a Battery terminal on the back and a plug-in with two terminals on the side.
What I need to know is. where do I run the wires to the two side terminals to make it charge? I ran the Battery terminal to the ammeter, then to the starter relay (hot for battery).
Thank you in advance for any information,
Fred Hall

One of the terminals is the Field wire...tells alt how much juice is in the batt. Thjs should be ran to the ign. switch or to the coil wire from the switch but B4 the resistor. You have to install resistor if you haven't already to keep from burning up the points...goes in B4 coil hot wire. The other terminal is run down to your BATT Hot wire on the alt. You will have to put a diode in this wire or tractor won't shut off because power will backfeed to IGN. Been several yrs. since I did this so memory could be wrong....
