I am currently restoring a 47 H. Is there a factory color paint that is extra hard, like Imron, available? What do you reccomend for the engine and frame? Use th same paint on the tin too? I can't find a hi-temp paint in Farmall red.

The easiest thing to do is to run down to your Case-IH dealer and get IH 2150 Red paint, available in either spray cans or quarts. This is what I used on my H. Some people like to add hardener to get a shinier finish; if I were doing it again I would do that - I have used hardener on subsequent projects and it definitely improves the finish.

hey, I'm new to this site but i have restored several tractors. I use a paint called IH enamel from my local TSC(Tractor Supply Company) or Valu-bilt.com for paint. I havent used hardener but plan to with my next tractor. It is supposed to make the paint stronger(less likely to chip) and glossier! Daniel
